“My dad is a dentist, my mom owns a popular local bakery, and my brother grew up to be an accountant. Rather than go to university, I went to community college. My parents had hoped I’d make something more of myself but in the end, were relieved I’d at least graduated from high school. I became a waitress to support myself while I tried to make a go of the writing gig. I guess all that makes me the rebel in the family.” I snorted at the thought. He laughed along with me.

“Somehow rebel is not what comes to mind when it comes to sweet romance,” he offered. I tilted my head in thought as I looked at him. If I’d had misperceptions about him, it only stood to reason he might have about me.
